A MORE CONSIDERED EXAM DAY

Exams should test knowledge.
Not patience.

An online exam is difficult enough without confusing instructions or an unexplained technical interruption. We're building Proctor to support candidates through those moments, and give institutions a clearer picture of what happened.

03Record & review

Ask what happened.
Don't assume why.

HUMAN JUDGMENT IS ESSENTIAL.
Illustrative field notes — not a candidate record or live examination screen.

THE IDEA IS SIMPLE

Fair examination needs reliable systems and room for human judgment. Both matter.

01 — THE APPROACH

Designed around the person taking the exam.

A strong process doesn't have to feel adversarial. Proctor's intended role is deliberately practical: explain, document and escalate — never judge a candidate on its own.

01

Help before suspicion.

If the internet drops or a device check fails, start with clear procedural guidance. Technical difficulty shouldn't automatically become an integrity allegation.

02

Keep a useful record.

Versioned rules and signed events are being developed so reviewers can understand which events were received and why an exception was raised.

03

Leave decisions to people.

Authorized staff evaluate the context. An automated prompt or flag is not a misconduct finding, grade or failure decision.

A PRINCIPLE WE WON'T TRADE AWAY

A technical interruption is not a verdict.

02 — THE EXAM DAY

Three moments worth getting right.

From preparing the device to resolving an incident afterward, these are the workflows we're developing and verifying with independent tests.

I.

Before

Clear expectations, approved identity and accessible checks that help candidates get ready.

PREPARE
II.

During

Plain-language technical guidance with human escalation when a situation needs one.

SUPPORT
III.

After

Reviewable, privacy-conscious evidence for institutionally authorized decision-makers.

REVIEW

03 — WHERE THINGS STAND

Useful work, done carefully.

Proctor is a product in development. Our public website is here to explain the approach, not to suggest a live examination service is available.

No public candidate or staff sign-in is available. Exam sessions will remain closed until independent identity, security, privacy and institutional requirements have been met.

FOUNDATION

Core systems built

Control-plane, policy, event and candidate-support components are in source review and testing.

IN PROGRESS

Private verification

Identity, deployment isolation, compatibility, operational safeguards and test evidence remain open.

NOT YET OPEN

Institutional pilot

A controlled evaluation will follow only after the responsible institution has approved it.

AN OBUMAI TOOL. A DISTINCT RESPONSIBILITY.

Technology should make room for better judgment.
